When my Vizio LCD TV stopped turning on, I was faced with a choice: figure out what was wrong and fix it or buy a new TV.
Being cut from fairly frugal cloth, the cost of buying a new TV seemed a bit frivolous. Yeah, I could afford it, but I was perfectly happy with how my Visio worked before it stopped turning on. Besides, there’s always something else for a person to spend their money on. Right?
A little research told me that I probably had some blown capacitors on the power board – a fairly common problem for plasma and LCD TVs. I ordered some new capacitors, got them soldered onto the board, and – voila! – my TV was working again, only now I had the ability to boast that I had fixed it. What pride!
I got to thinking that other TVs probably suffered similar simple problems and decided I would put up a site to help others gain the pride I felt when I fixed my own TV.
